Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully — they set out the rules that govern your relationship with Cashat and our licensed partners across Africa.
Last updated · 1 June 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, accessing or using any Cashat product — including the Cashat mobile app, the Cashat Agent app, the Cashat Merchant app, our website at cashat.africa, and any related APIs (collectively, the "Services") — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
These Terms form a binding agreement between you and Cashat Technologies Ltd, registered in Nigeria, together with our licensed local operating entities in each market we serve.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter into a binding contract, and not subject to sanctions administered by the United Nations, the African Union, the United States, the European Union or the United Kingdom. Business accounts must be opened by a duly authorised representative of a lawfully registered entity.
3. Account creation and KYC
To use the Services you must create an account and complete identity verification appropriate to your transaction limits, in line with the Know-Your-Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) rules of your country of residence.
You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information, and to update it promptly if anything changes. We may suspend or close your account if we are unable to verify the information you provide.
4. The Services
Cashat provides a multi-currency wallet, peer-to-peer transfers, QR and link payments, cross-border remittances, virtual and physical cards, agent cash-in / cash-out, and merchant acceptance tools. Specific products are delivered through licensed partner banks, e-money issuers and card networks in each jurisdiction. The exact list of products available to you depends on your country of residence and your verification level.
Customer funds are held with regulated partner institutions and are not commingled with Cashat's operating funds.
5. Fees
Applicable fees, foreign-exchange spreads and limits are shown in-app before you confirm any transaction, and are also published in our Fee Schedule available at cashat.africa/fees. We may change fees with at least 30 days' prior notice.
6. Your obligations
- Use the Services only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws.
- Keep your login credentials, PIN, biometrics and one-time codes confidential.
- Notify us immediately at security@cashat.africa if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
- Do not use the Services to launder money, finance terrorism, evade sanctions, defraud third parties, or trade in illegal goods or services.
- Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload or interfere with the Services.
7. Transactions and authorisations
A transaction is deemed authorised by you when it is initiated using your credentials and confirmed using the appropriate second factor (PIN, biometric or one-time code). Once authorised, a transaction is generally irreversible. You should always confirm the recipient details before approving a transfer.
We may decline, hold or reverse a transaction where we reasonably suspect fraud, error, sanctions breach, money-laundering, or violation of these Terms, or where required by a court order, regulator or partner institution.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close your account, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if your account shows signs of fraud or abuse, if a regulator or partner requires us to, or if your account has been inactive for a sustained period.
You may close your account at any time from Settings → Account. Closure does not relieve you of obligations incurred before closure, including chargebacks, fees and any amounts owed.
9. Intellectual property
Cashat and its licensors own all rights, title and interest in the Services, including all software, designs, trademarks and content. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Services for your personal or business use, as the case may be.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cashat disclaims all warranties not expressly set out in these Terms.
Cashat's aggregate liability under these Terms shall not exceed the greater of (a) the fees you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the liability, or (b) the equivalent of USD 500. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
11. Dispute resolution
We aim to resolve all complaints internally. Please contact support@cashat.africa in the first instance. Disputes that cannot be resolved internally shall be referred to the consumer-protection or financial-services ombudsman of your country of residence, where one exists, or to arbitration seated in Lagos, Nigeria under the rules of the Lagos Court of Arbitration. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to you in-app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
